What is Openarts?
Open Arts – Is - Artists of the Otago Peninsula (PENinsula ARTS).
It was created by – and is still the “creation”, of a group of creative people whose interest is in Art, in it's many and varied forms and genre.
People who live and create their Art on the fabulous Otago Peninsula between Andersons Bay, and Tairoa Heads in Dunedin!
They are an eclectic group of energetic Artists and Artisans!
Painters – Potters – Ceramists – Print makers – Photographers - Writers – jewellery makers - Poets and Musicians!
Our aim is to promote and encourage all Creative Art, in the widest sense of “creative arts” on the Otago Peninsula – and to draw in the wider Dunedin and Otago community with Artistic interests.
We want to encourage new members, and young developing artists to be a part of us!
We wish to develop new talents, and to have their involvement with Open arts, to be of benefit to them! To assist all members, of all genre, to grow their particular areas of art and interest, and participate in the groups activities!

How do members relate to Open Arts?
Being a member – or becoming a member offers the Artists and the organisation various levels of activity, and a range of expertise. The common elements and aims being personal development, community involvement,to gain experience in the arts, and experience exhibiting their works, to create alternative interests beyond working careers, to motivate one another, to increase levels of communication, to attract workshops to the Peninsula, to offer space for artists to extend their work via support groups, studio and gallery visits, social occasions, and to insights into and knowledge of their own art or craft, to share methods and techniques that may assist the development of each others fields and to widen ones circle of friends.

Who can join Open Arts?
To become a member you must – either live, or have lived on the Peninsula – or - have a close connection with the area. (eg: family – or some historical connection)
Membership is $15-00 a year for an individual and $25-00 for a Family.
There are additional fees for entry to our exhibitions – which at present are held twice yearly.
It is anticipated that this will shortly be expanded to at least one, if not two additional exhibitions.
We are also closely associated with the Otago Art Society, with many members being involved with both organisations. This – if belonging to both, gives artists a wider scope for their development and exposure in their Art or craft!
