Creating dramatic visual images has always been a passion.

From an early career in commercial art I gained valuable skills in advertising, silk screening, sign writing, display and illustration. Highlights included working for the Caxton Press in Christchurch and the Otago Medical School where I produced anatomical and other medical diagrams.

With this grounding I began to branch out, using acrylics, watercolour and pen and ink to create paintings in a variety of different styles, textures, colours and themes.

Since moving to the Otago Peninsula eight years ago I have been able to spend more time in my studio and that has provided a space for ideas to evolve. Imagination is now a greater component of my paintings, some of which have become quite stylised. In what are paintings of people, animals and landscapes the use of symbols, patterns and rich earthy colours together with a Pacific influence can introduce an element of surprise. This experience of creating something new and different sustains my love of art.

And as an artist member of the Otago Art Society I enjoy the support and stimulation of other local artists.
