McFarmers is a small working sheep farm set on the Otago Peninsula
with fantastic harbour views.
Family run by John and his 2 boys,
the buildings have a unique touch by John’s handy craftsmanship with wood.

They promote environmental awareness aiming to recycle / reuse and are committed to a zero waste policy, providing recycling facilities in both the Cottage and the Lodge, encouraging travelers to participate.

  • The Cottage…
    Has a private deck to enjoy the panoramic sea views of the Otago Harbour.
    Small and cosy it is fully self-contained with a kitchen, living area,
    bathroom and 2 bedrooms
    1 Queen bedroom
    1 bedroom with 2 Single beds. All with linen.
    Handy for families or romantic for couples.
    Tariff from $120 for 2 people up to $150 for 4 people.
    Most travelers end up staying more than one night.
  • The Backpacker Lodge…
    Has the same idyllic panoramic sea views
    but positioned on an elevated part of the property.
    Sun deck overlooks directly onto the water.
    The 3 bedroom Lodge has a laid back rustic charm with warm log burner.
  • The Backpackers Lodge has a fully equipped Kitchen, share bathroom/toilet.
    Bedrooms are a choice of Queen, Twin or Single
    with one room sleeping up to 3 people with a Queen bed and 1 Single bed.
    Tariff from NZ$30 p.p. to NZ$55 p.p.
    Close to all Peninsula eco-tourism attractions.
    1 Kilometer before the Portobello village.
